Jeunet liberally sprays this with magic creating some kind of amphetamine fuelled version of The Fisher King vs Tony Stark before he became Iron Man. Very brilliant.
I preferred Up In The Air to this that day. Yes it's got loads of clever shit going on but I just didn't really give a toss. The other one found me strangely lacking in cynicism and managed to pull all my strings effortlessly in comparison.
I too preferred Up In The Air from the two films we saw at LFF. It was a really well written and acted comedy-drama that avoided cliche and, as Ali said, didn't provoke the cynicism I usually feel towards romantic comedy.
Much brilliant imagination on show in a world which doesn't quite ring true leaving it with a slight air of irrelevance.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't disagree with that, but I still liked it best from our 2-film Festival jaunt.

ReplyDeleteI found Up In The Air underplayed to the point of near-banality personally. I'd be interested to see it appear on here, but somehow I doubt it will!
